Yoga with Picasso
Since 2019, the Hilti Art Foundation has been offering museum experiences of a special kind: from yoga to chanting, from Qi Gong to breathing exercises – an experience for body and mind in the midst of great art. 10 minutes to start with a work of art. Perrrformat is a nomadic initiative founded in Zurich in 2020, dedicated to the curation, mediation and documentation of performance art in (semi-)public spaces. Working closely with artists, the collective explores experimental forms of performance and develops new approaches to performative practices, presence and shared space.

At the invitation of Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein, Perrrformat is presenting two performances at the museum and in public space.

Ssassin’s Creed (Lady says Stop)

Ssassin’s Creed (Lady says Stop) explores what happens when someone’s sense of power, authority or place in society is shaken – or entirely removed. Some collapse into victimhood, losing themselves in loops of self-referential thought; others elevate themselves as chosen ones, driven by a messianic conviction that they must fix or change the world. From these ruptures, new figures emerge: cult leaders, lone actors, people on missions no one asked for. Who do we become when we feel humiliated, unseen or stripped of power? What kinds of violence do we justify under the banner of change or “revolution”?

In the performance, Liina Magnea embodies the figure of a police officer, reenacting institutional authority while simultaneously dismantling it through humour, distorted language and choreographic intervention. The officer appears in crisis, her authority unsettled by social scrutiny and internal doubt.

Liina Magnea (ISL/FI) is a Berlin-based artist, choreographer, performer and musical composer whose work revolves around character, transformation and unstable identities. Through shape-shifting choreography, she merges and mutates archetypes, allowing characters to slip between authority, vulnerability, absurdity and menace. Drawing on internet culture and her concept of the “post-brutal,” Magnea combines music, movement and film dramaturgy to explore psychological fragility, compulsive behaviour and the strange figures produced by contemporary life.

Whip My ass Baby the Butterflies are Falling

In this solo performance that blends humor, absurdity, and satire, Marlène Charpentié invites us to dream despite the shadow of capitalism, through a vampire tale and fantastical cabaret. In an absurd presentation of him-self, an angry drag king attempts to become the master of the audience. A vampire, the Diva of Broken Hearts, queen of a forgotten cabaret, sings of her lost love in a husky voice. Music is distorted by glitches, while the performers’ movements begin to growing increasingly jerky. Like a fleeting enchantment, the performance gradually descends into horror and putrefaction.

Marlène Charpentié is a visual artist, performer, and director based in Geneva. Drawing inspiration from cinema and tales, they create fantastical worlds imbued with a baroque aesthetic. In their performances they play different archetypal figures: politicians, monsters, clowns, vampires, fallen stars in a poetic and nostalgic atmosphere. These moving tableaux evoke dirty dreams, driven by rich symbolism and humour. Marlène plays each character using a poetic, trash and expressive language driven by the desire to do everything by hand in XXL. Recently, their performative work has taken a darker turn, exploring satirical representations that invite more ambiguous interpretations referring to horror codes.
