The photographs of Hans Georg Esch (b. 1964 in Neuwied, Germany) combine maximum technical precision with meticulous composition and spectacular visual moments.

As an architectural photographer, Esch travels the world for the biggest design firms. His examination of the landscape and construction in the Principality of Liechtenstein results in individual large-format images and tableaux consisting of multiple small views on a particular topic.

In Liechtenstein, Esch is interested not so much in the dramatic effects of sunlight and deep shadows – which he prefers to deploy in urban panoramas in Asia. Here, at the heart of Europe and the Alps, the humid climate of low-hanging clouds and lush green after a downpour is a common phenomenon. In this light, Esch can capture the infinite details of rock and brushed concrete that lend an all-connecting texture to his images.

Capturing Liechtenstein in pictures means reflecting the distinctive qualities of season and light, with differences in detail being more important than the whole.

Admission to the exhibition is free of charge.
