Steven Parrino (1958–2005) was one of the most influential artists of the New York art scene since the late 1980s.

Predominantly a painter, in his oeuvre he developed an original visual idiom that draws on subcultural movements while at the same time displaying clear references to the history of art of the twentieth century and beyond. Authenticity and the will to form combine to create an innovative power of outstanding quality that is also expressed in his installations, music, films and writings.

The exhibition is the first comprehensive retrospective of the artist in the German-speaking world. Exhibits include early drawings and collages, all distinct bodies of work, and several installations, accompanied by photographs of his concerts and by his videos.

A production of Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein, curated by Fabian Flückiger and Friedemann Malsch. The show will be accompanied by a comprehensive publication.
