Liechtenstein. On the Future of the Past. A Treasure Chest

The big anniversary exhibition Liechtenstein. On the Future of the Past engages works from four impressive collections and several centuries in a dialogue with each other. It presents a wealth of treasures which Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein has packed in a kind of treasure chest together with this publication. Each work on show is depicted on separate theme cards including detailed work descriptions, presented in a fabric-lined case. What is more, the loose form of the card collection enables readers to rearrange and juxtapose the total of 107 art treasures from the early Renaissance and Austrian Romanticism to classical modernism and contemporary art.

An accompanying booklet containing short articles provides information about the respective collections, their main themes and the history of their origins. In addition, an introductory text gives an insight into the range of themes and associations covered in the exhibition. Special, playful and informative—those are the aims of this splendid treasure chest marking “300 Years of the Principality of Liechtenstein”.
